Value of 4-door Dually?

Im thinking about buying a truck to pull a 16'trailor with a 8n tractor and to haul water. The truck Im looking at is a 1985 Chevy Dually crewcab. It has the 454 gas motor and is in fair condition cosmetically but very sound mechanically, 108,000 miles. What is something like this worth? I live in Springfield Illinois. Thanks Mark

Mark,

You can find info on blue-book values for many vehicles at www.kbb.com. I know that there is a cut off at some point based on the age of the vehicle. What I'll normally do when buying or selling is check the blue-book on trade-in and retail and then check classified ads from the area and get a good feel for what prices are being asked for similar vehicles. An '85 gas dually might be hard to find comparisons for but with a little homework, you should be able to find something.

I hope that helps.

With a/c, power steer, good tires, good body with no rust or major engine or body work needed and rating it in "good" condition the blue book value for it in Texas is $3345 in a private treaty slae.

The trade-in value is $1750
