We say....raining like:

a cow peeing on a flat rock

or it came a downpour or:

a real frog strangler

a real turd floater (sorry Fred's fav)

a real gulley washer

a real gutter flusher

Has anybody heard "raining like a banshee" ?

I have heard this all my life, but my wife swears that i am the only person she has ever heard say it.

I know it ain't politicly correct and probably Banshees have nothing to do with rain. But hey, I don't make this stuff up, I'm just repeating what I hear.

You're not the only person who heard it. I've heard it all my life, too!!

I've heard the 'wind was howling like a banshee', but never raining like a banshee

OK I needed to find out what a banshee is.

ban·shee [ bán shee ] (plural ban·shees)

1. spirit who warns of death: in Gaelic folklore, a spirit of a woman who appears, wailing, to signal that somebody in the household is going to die

Now I know! Wonderful thing; dictionaries.

Thanks Leonore!

It finally makes all the sense to me..

Boys around here spend their 'free' time running these four-tracks they call 'banshee'; Maybe is the model?
