Can anyone tell me how much Red Devil Lye to use to make up a 6-8 pound batch of soap.i used to do it,but it has been a few years, and they no longer put a recipe on the back of the can like they used to!!! I have got about eight pounds of rendered Alligator Fat I would like to make soap out of just to see how it turns out!!! Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, the lye might be in a 13 oz can, in which case it would need about 6 lbs of fat.

Guys thank for the advice. I get the gators by virtue of some control work i do for Wildlife and Fisheries. When one shows up in the middle of the Highway,or in soembodys swimming pool,or eats somebodys dog, they call me. Gets a little exciting sometimes!!! So far this year we've gotten eight Gators.
