Better half bought me a great book called Renovating Barns sheds and Outbuildings, by Nick Engler.

It may be too simple for some of you guys that already do this kind of work a lot (Mike D!), but it has been quite an eye opener and very helpful for me. Lots of pictures and practical information on fixing up the old homestead. The chapter on re-doing foundations a portion at a time is coming in handy as I rebuild one of the old chicken coops.

anyway, wanted to recommend it for anybody wondering how to get one of these projects moving.

never hurts to read up-    Posted 06-25-2003 at 19:42:56       [Reply]  [No Email]
I feel a whole lot more comfortable taking on a task that is new to me if I've read up on it some. One thing to be careful about: make sure you enjoy what you are doing. Too many folks out there suffering through work that doesn't require suffering through.

From what I have come to know about you Tom, when you are through it will be right as rain.

a friend-

Tnx. I have worked in construction for years, however old barn & foundation construction is different in many ways.
