My wife makes a jam from ripe tomatos that taste like strawberrys, raspberrys,or any number of things. If you are interested in this let me know and I'll try to get the recipe from her.

Larry, I'd be very appreciative for that recipe.

Hi DW,
How about if you e-mail her for it. She's a little shy about posting anything here. Her address is I'll try to remember to tell her about it,so she can get it ready.

A search on offers lotsa tomato jam recipes, but this one sounds about like Gramma's batch.

If you have an unused hotbox or hothouse, they make terrific midsummer dehydrators and keep the flies off the slices while they're sun-drying too. Arrange the slices on stainless screen trays. Fruits, soup ingredients, meat, most everything you can slice will sun dry. Then store them in baggies.

I don't have tomato jam recipe, but if I don't have time to can them as fast as they come in, I bowl hot water and pour it over the washed tomatoes in the sink and let them sit soak for about 10 minutes. This makes the peeling slide right off with no trouble at all. I then remove the inner core and top, and place them on a collander to drain. I put them in zip lock bags and freeze. They are wonderful for soups, spagetti sauce, meatloaf makings, Texas chili, just about anything! I have so many tomatoes right now I could supply the Campbell Soup Company!

Here's an interesting website I found for an over-abundance of tomatoes.

Sorry, I'm terribly with the PC. I wish one of you kind people out there would tell me how to put a link on here with that bullet thingy.
