opened up a jar of jelly that we made in 1978. Everyone said to throw it away. It is just as good as when it was put in the jar. Smells good, looks good, tastes good.Been eating it all week, not dead yet.Any comments?

I used to 'steal' jars of Christmas Pickles from my Grams celler...She caught me one day with a jar that was dated 1945...

That was in 1968 by the way...

Actually...That could explain alot about the last 35 years...

Never mind...

;-)

My compliments to the maker! They apparently knew what they were doing when it came to preserving!

I used items canned ten years ago as long as the vacuum seal is good. I still use my moms home made jam, but it is only 3 years old. She is not with us as of two years ago, so it is an extra nice treat.

My mother used to make tomato preserves when she was alive. That on hot biscuits was my favorite. When she died, I had around 15qt. that I ate on until gone. Don't remember how long that took but was sad when they were all gone. My sisters tried to make them but nobody did them like mom did. Guess we have all been that done that...........E. Ray

How sweet...no pun intended.
That really is nice;
I am sure it is a very special memory and reminder of her.
