HOW DO WE WASH OFF ALL THIS PESTICIDE ETC. WHICH COATS OUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND WHICH IS MEANT TO BE RESISTANT TO WASHING OFF. IT SEEMS TO ME ORDINARY DETERGENTS ARE NOT VERY EFFECTIVE. ARE WE POISONING OURSELVES EATING POISON ON OUR SUPPOSEDLY HEALTHFUL FOODS?

I wash the vegetables with clean water to remove any surface dirt or other contaminants. I think that the hysteria over trace amounts of pesticides is unwarrented.
Others may feel differently though.

I agree!
Just a normal washing will remove chemicals.
Paranoia is more harmful to a body's health than minute amounts of pesticide.
I find the wax on cucumbers a lot harder on my digestive system than pesticide.

There is a product you can buy meant specifically for washing the pesticides off vegetables. I just can't remember the name of it. In Canada it is sold at Canadian Tire stores, so I would imagine WalMart carries it.

Grow your own in the summer, and buy organic grown from the store. That way youknow there aren't any pesticides on them.
