HOW DOES THE GUY DRILLING A WELL KNOW WHEN HE HAS REACHED A VIABLE WATER SOURCE OR AQUIFER?

Around here...    Posted 07-09-2003 at 04:38:41       [Reply]  [No Email]
They drill with a rig that pumps water into the hole at a set rate with air with it to bring up the tailings...every so often they stop the water flow from the truck and keep the air going down...If water is still being pushed up and out, they know they hit water...

Pretty simple and effective...

They look at the sand/gravel and just guess by the way it looks.

My dad always said to keep pipe you are driving full of water. When the water leaves down the pipe you have a well. I have seen it work many times. An old time way that works.

Earl does his drilling another way than we do down here,,But i bet he locates water his way better..But the quality of the water was a question too.Which shows there is room for improvements in well drilling techniques.
