Does anyone know if "black pipe" and GRC (galvanized rigid conduit) fittings and pipe are compatible? I am building a tower and have a hard time finding black pipe fittings. They are both 40 mil heavy wall pipe so should be the same or close. Any experts out there??

THANKS GUYS    Posted 07-09-2003 at 14:26:33       [Reply]  [No Email]
The posted info was what I was looking for and the picture with all the fittings was good. I am building a tower for my wind generators so don't have to worry about water or gas and painting will take care of the rust. The main poles are black pipe and I just did not want to order galv. fittings is they would not work. Thanks again. Gyp

Conduit coupling are not tapered threads is all
but they all fit together . rigid conduit has a seam in it if I remember right and won't work good for water .

All of the pipe sizes for Gal. and black are the same. Black is normally (must be) used for gas and gal. is (must be ) used for water.
Black pipe will rust very fast where the Gal. finish won't for some time.

Look at this if you need to know pipe fittings.
