What is in a name? Are people sensitive to or prejudiced against certain types of names? Would Shirlnika get an interview for a receptionist job if she was up against Emily, sight unseen?

Would Billy Joe get an interview for an executive level position? Or would that name conjure up a hick image? Same with Betty Jean or Billy May?

Would Wung Loo get an interview at a software developement company faster than John Smith? How important is a name? Billy Bob Thornton seems to have done pretty well I guess. What do you think?

By the way, my real name is Cynthia. I hate that name, it always makes me think of a spoiled, snobby rich girl

Our oldest daughter's name is Cynthia, we like it just fine. "course she goes by Cindy, when she was teenager she had to spell it Cindi, just 'cause. Names don't mean much to me, I interview folks often for employment here and never give a name a second thought.
