Being summertime I have had my share of kids not belonging to me, hanging around my house and some of them have the strangest notions, superstitions and odd sayings.

One of Jenny's friends lifts her feet when going over a railroad track in the truck and says 'watermelon'

Here are some of the others, have you guys heard any?

Holding your breath as you pass a cemetery

Punch buggy no punch back

Jinx jinx you owe me a coke

we used to hold our breath as we'd pass a cemetary ... something about the ghosts flattening your tires if you don't.

now that i have 2 kids, i taught them to hold their breath at cemetaries. i find myself driving slower by them ... because i enjoy the few seconds of peace and quiet from the back seat!

My daughter did something funny in the car on the way home by kissing the back of her hand and touching to ceiling of the car... I laughed and said I guess that is like when I was a kid and lifted our feet when going over a railroad track, but I couldn't remember why we did that. I don't know if it was for luck, making a wish, or having to do with a boy you liked. Guess I'm going to have to call my sister tomorrow, lol.

When I was a kid (seventies), we used to say "jinx, you owe me a coke" whenever you said the same thing at exactly the same time as someone else. The first to say "jinx..." got the coke!
