They don't do it that way here. They don't mail us a check, they just have a tax-free day or two for school shopping. There is a limit of how much a single item can cost to get it tax free and there are some exempted items, but for one weekend anybody can shop tax free. They don't even have to have kids!

It is a great thing for families with children!
It's about time the child deduction was increased.
Too late for me;
but wonderful for you with young children.

Maggie, this is nationwide, if you have school aged kids, you get back four hundred dollars per kid this year for school shopping. It was on MNS this morning.

It's not...    Posted 07-26-2003 at 04:16:05       [Reply]  [No Email]
For 'School Shopping'...

It is a refund of what you overpaid to the government...Spend it as you will...

All the people complaining that they are not getting the $400 this year will get it next year because the Child Tax Credit will be $1000/child on the forms next year instead of the $600 allowed this year...

If a robber returns half he has taken from you then that is cause for great celebrations.

I think it is great. At least you all get a little of your money back. The thing that amazes me is that those who do not pay any taxes are complaining. They do not pay and get "earned income credit" which means they get money they never paid in every year. While hard working families who can hardly afford it are taxed more in order to pay them. It is about time you guys get a little rebate. I know the child credit is just about 15 years overdue, too. $1,000 a year per child is just a drop in the bucket. It will ease the burden on young families with children.
Way to go President Bush!!

Wow, Lenore....that was big! Lol! I know some folks don't like the tax rebate, but without it this year we would be nailed to the wall.

In God we trust! So it is written on every dollar.But I had a big Bible and looked up to see what God ask for.he ask for TEN PERCENT. You dont need an ambulance chaser to figure Gods tax out for you.Ten percent off the top,then forget the refunds.I like Gods idea best.
