Okay, so we've figured out the population of the nearest town. What's the population of the county you live in?

There's a grand total of 16,100 people in mine. As one of my city friends said, we don't even make a suburb.

Anybody here from Alaska, I don't think they even have counties??

County? What difference does that make? The county doesn't have anything to do with anything except the court, the county nursing home and the sherrif's dept. who mostly serves legal papers.

Don't leave out 'Traffic Control'...

Chittenden county hires out its' Sherrif and Deputies to other counties to sit in their cars and run the lights when they are working on the roads or lines...

I think I was born in Taylor county; is that where Villisca is? And Clarinda? My parents were telephone operators around there in the late 40's and early 50's.

Villisca is in Montgomery county, just to the north, Clarinda is in Page county, just to the west, Clarinda is where we do most of our town stuff.

Chittenden County Vermont...Population 146,571...

That is nearly a quarter the population of the whole state of Vermont and houses the Largest City in the state...Our town has become a 'bedroom community' with a population of about 3,600...Still only one real traffic light and two blinkers...

So far that is...

Donna from Mo    Posted 07-28-2003 at 08:34:27       [Reply]  [No Email]
32,653... and I'd say probably half of them commute to Kansas City to work.

Our nearest town Okanogan has a little over 4,000 and one blinking light for trafic. The next town has 3 regular Trafic Signals it used to have only one till Wal-Mart built a store. Two of them are to get in to the store off the main Hyw. The store brings a lot of people down from Canada to shop. Mark H.

Our county has approximately 26,000 residents. I think that includes the 3,000 or so in the state guest cottage(prison).
