My mom always said we would end up in the poorhouse! I used that phrase on my children once, years ago, and they thought I said whor*house, and me and my husband about died laughing!

Didn't need any threats about poor house here. Pretty good chance that, if there even was a poor house, it was probably in better shape than the one we were living in.

Kids aren't scared of anything anymore. Remember the threat of being sent to (dun dun dun duuuunn)

!!!!THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE!!! (deep voice-echo effect)

When I was growing up, if you went to the principal's office he was going to smoke your britches for you, telling you with every whack ....your....own....good.
Ya know what? It was.

Nowadays they hand out toys if your good, and frown at you if you're bad....oh that's scary.

They're not scared of he!!. There is no he!!. John Edwards and Sylvia Brown will tell you that your soul just wanders around in space waiting to be contacted by them and their peers.

They aren't scared of their parents. They know that a smart smack on the a$$ could land mom or dad in the pokey.

Why would they be afraid of welfare? It's rampant in schools, kids brag about how their parents rape the system, or who they are going to sue next. When I was in school having a free or reduced lunch was 'HUMILIATING'. Now they push them, and free lunch kids trade their lunches like we used to trade marbles and bubble gum trading cards, for whatever they can get. Not only is it free, but they turn their noses up at it, but will still check off that little box to get it at registration time.

Yeah well the world seems to be a changing. Not only do they want something for nothing, but their seems to be no pride in workmanship anymore.
So what happens in a few years when everyone is on walfare and no one works?
Around here there are a few bumper stickers that say WELFARE SHOULD BE AS HARD TO GET AS A CUTTING PERMIT I agree with that.
Now I think that society should support people who are unable to work, but the able bodied people should be cut off immediately. And I wouldn't consider someone who just can't find a job eligible.

Cindi why don't you pack up your husband and kids and move up to Illinois? We could use more people with your point of view around here.
I just read that "someone was offended" post and responded to it while I was still annoyed-so I probably offended a few more people! Have a nice day.

Trust me...there are tons of people out there that think just the same way I do. I'm just dumb enough to say it out loud. :)

"gutsy" would be a better choice of words than "dumb"--got any single sisters? LOL
