I never could get into it, but Fred and Jake are foorball fanatics. During football season all I hear is, gotta get this done by one/or/four/or six, depending on what time the game is on. When you're a fan, you're a fan. With them it's football and hunting shows, with me and the girls it's movies.

You mistyped the word. It's not "foorball" it's "foolball". ";^)

Not Me, Hate football    Posted 08-10-2003 at 04:32:23       [Reply]  [No Email]
Takes up too much time, don't feed the hungry etc. Over paid steroid-fed jocks wearing ten pounds of plastic armour and pads running into each other like a demolition derby. What's the point? I guess I'm not much for spectator sports. I'll likely turn off the tube till after superbowl. All things considered I'd rather watch 8 yr olds play ice hockey, at least that is fun to watch, kids who barely know how to skate, and barely have their balance falling down while chasing a puck. Best of all, they play for the shear joy of it.
First and foremost, I'd rather do something constructive than watch others play a game.

I'd rather waste time.

Thought that was what 'pro' sports was...

hate to be the dissenter here, but since all the free agency and salary cap with players moving on after a few years, I really give a d**n less about it. Stop and think, at the present rate, none of us will ever watch real quality teams on a consistent basis. We are getting screwed, because we have the right to see the best of the sport and the powers to be have dragged it down in the name of parity. That is why the caliber of the sport has dropped and we have suffered for it

My youngest just finished high school this past year, his brother in 99.They both played football from wee wee on up.They both were good and won lots of honors, but I might go to one or two games this year, and thats a big might. We have set in freezing rain, bitter cold and boiling sunshine all these years because they wanted to play.I am not a fan of college or pro,and the bad officiating in high school will boil your blood.I'm glad it's over.

I'm like Les,I'd rather be playing music.

I can't wait either. Love college football. Notre Dame is the team I like to watch. Don't know why though. Something about under dogs coming back. And naturally I root for the Rams. Since I am from Missouri. They gotta be better than last year.

I have a strange assortment of favorites.
I really am a local high school football fan.
Then I skip right over the college games and watch the pros.
I of course pull for our new Texans and also the Cowboys.
I am still a Titan fan even though they left Houston.
I am a big Brett/Packer fan, too.
I also, for some reason, like the Raiders.
I like the Saints, too,
having grown up in the New Awlins area.

I like the Raiders and Packers too. Emmitt Smith, what a career! I like seeing him run.

I lived in Merraro(sp) and West Wego for about 2 years when I was a young man. Worked offshore, for a company that maintained the navigational lights and fog horns on the oil platforms. If I remember right the Saints were a new team. The Super Dome was being built. Sorry I didn't like them then and I still don't.

Talk about running!
I saw a spectacular runner this evening.
J. J. Moses ran a punt return back 65 yds as the crow flies.
It was at least 85 yds literally.
It was fun to watch that run.
Texans lost 20-12 to the Broncos,
but it was fun watching.

I see The Raiders beat the Rams and the Packers beat the Falcons.

Cowboys and Cardinals dont seem to be doing anything,
it has been 6-0 Cardinals since the first Qtr.
Now 3rd Qtr and still the same.

I wish that I could get some football on the tv. I have 75 channels and not one football game.

~Lenore    Posted 08-09-2003 at 21:03:36       [Reply]  [No Email]
Goodness! You poor guy!
I dont know what I would do if I couldn't!
I shudder to even think about that.
I got a picture in a picture TV so I could watch two at a time.
Now, my cable provider does not always carry the games I would choose,
but I usually have at least two or three good ones each weekend/Monday.
Why with 75 ch. dont you have any football??
That is un-American!!

Charles(Mo)    Posted 08-09-2003 at 21:07:28       [Reply]  [No Email]
Must be my luck. Which has been really bad lately. What stations are carrying the games?

~Lenore    Posted 08-09-2003 at 21:36:57       [Reply]  [No Email]
Our local ABC affiliate is carrying all the Texan preseason games.
That is what I watched tonight.

I am keeping up with the current stats on this link, www.NFL.com.
It is pretty cool.
I am watching a grid of the action on the Cowboy Cardinal game now.
I keep this in my favorites on my computer during football season.
Click on it, it isn't a game but it is really neat.

Remaining preseason TV schedule:
Monday, Aug. 11 Philadelphia at New Orleans (ESPN, 8 pm ET)
Thursday, Aug. 14 Oakland at San Francisco (FOX, 8 pm ET)
Friday, Aug. 15 Green Bay at Cleveland (CBS, 8 pm ET)
Saturday, Aug. 16 Buffalo at Tennessee (ESPN, 8 pm ET)
Monday, Aug. 18 Tampa Bay at St. Louis (ABC, 8 pm ET)
Thursday, Aug. 21 Dallas at Pittsburgh(FOX, 8 pm ET)
Friday, Aug. 22 Atlanta at Miami (CBS, 8 pm ET)
Monday, Aug. 25 Indianapolis at Denver (ABC, 8 pm ET)

Got all this from that site.
It is past my bedtime now;
so goodnight.

Dallas cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals with Emmitt Smith as a Cardinal. 9;pm central here. I'd rather be in Houston watching the Texans tho.

~Lenore........Ron??    Posted 08-09-2003 at 20:01:57       [Reply]  [No Email]

I am not getting the Dallas game,
but I see on NFL Scoreboard that Arizona has 6 to 0 for Dallas.
Has Emmitt done anything??
Update me if you dont mind.
Just does not seem right......

~Lenore    Posted 08-09-2003 at 18:40:42       [Reply]  [No Email]

That just does not seem right!!
There is something wrong with that picture.

Well, he is in red again just like his college days.
I will never get used to it though.

Pitch    Posted 08-10-2003 at 02:43:26       [Reply]  [No Email]
Oh MY GOD I thought that this was one of the very few places that I could go and not have to hear about this sensless waste of time. It never ceases to amaze me how normally sensible people can act like a few millionare sports teams and their actions make any useful contribution to the world what so ever. I just could never understand why anyone cares what these people do. Do you own stock in the team, do you have a relative that plays? I realize that I am in the minority here but in deference to myself and the few other like minded folks, if you are going to post this drivel please note that is about professional sports in the subject line so that we can skip over it. Thanks

Ron/PA    Posted 08-10-2003 at 04:12:21       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yer right pitch, that subject line of "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?" was a bit misleading!
Watching football as a waste of time, has got to rank right up there with posting on chat forums,, God what if someone was posting here with football on in the same room? Man if they had Pic in Pic, that would be the rock bottom huh?
Later
Ron

~Lenore    Posted 08-10-2003 at 08:13:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
LOL, dont know what gave me away!!
You got me figured out, Ron.
Did I leave too many clues??
