Sorry about yesterday I guess I was in a hurry for the weekend to start. LOL...I have a chicken that is losing all of her feathers. I have several chickens and this is the only one. Does anyone now Why?

I also live close to an Indian Casino. They make horrible neighbors and wanted to know if anyone else lives close to one. I have problems with their lights glaring in my windows at night and have notified them and they basically don't care. Maybe I should go into the dairy or hog business. I wonder if that would get their attention and perhaps be more curtious.

How is it....    Posted 08-14-2003 at 13:56:43       [Reply]  [No Email]

Chickens molt based mostly in response to light (or lack thereof). As days get shorter, it will normally trigger a molt in all but very young birds. But like humans, everyone responds a little differently to stuff, so this one may just be early. I have a few birds that molt at odd times of year, but most of them start about now and go on for a few weeks or so.

I think a nice hog business would be a good addition to your place. Of course, I understand they are extraordinarily smelly and perhaps some neighbors you have may object so you should consider your relationship with your neighbors before you start up something like that. :-)

good luck,
tom
