Interesting discussion on this board. Even though most of the posters on this board are close-minded and sometimes downright ignorant, I do think you are honest, hardworking people. I also believe that you liked having something to talk about besides racoons and cows.:)

Hi Bob,

Just remember that there's nothing wrong with our being close-minded since we also happen to be correct......

Thank you for proving my point Mr. Bumpkin.

Bob I think you are confused, the people on this board are not close-minded or downright ignorant, they actually have their own opinion about a subject and are willing to defend it, if having your own opinion is being closed minded and ignorant i'll take that as a compliment because if you are open minded and intelligent i don't want none of it. A gun is a tool, just like a hammer and whether you own a gun or not, in my opinion is in a sense the same as if you own a hammer or not if you want to be prepared to take care of problems that may present themselves, whether it be a loose floorboard or a threat to your family, property or livestock you should have the proper tool for the job. While its true that in the wrong hands a gun can be used for the wrong things, but a hammer can also be used in the same way, a hammer can be a dangerous weapon used to break in to places or break skulls so i guess in your open minded opinion people shouldn't have hammers just like people shouldn't have guns.

Bob's a troll    Posted 08-20-2003 at 04:54:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
so just ignore him.

Fortunately, I was too busy to see the discussion until now, but clearly Bob's intent is to rile everyone up by speaking ill about things of which he knows nothing.

We've seen many trolls on this site over the years, and they all use similar tactics.

Let him cast his mindless bait. Just remember, if nobody takes it, he'll go away like all the rest have.

My feelings exactly.

I don't have time to read all the posts on every thread related to the subject but I might suggest, Bob, that if you want to engage in some repartee with people who aren't close-minded and ignorant, you had better find another board. It would appear to me that you are pretty much alone in your views. I bet you could go find a place where everybody was as smart and open-minded as you are and you could have a wonderful time laughing at ignorant folks like us.
BTW, it's not really necessary to taste sewage to know that it's not something you want to eat.

In reply to you statment " most of the posters on this board are close-minded and sometimes downright ignorant" I am not sure that I have seen any ignorance displayed on this board. Please do not insult someone and in the next breath try to flatter them at the same time. If they are close-minded I suppose you are just taking a stand as to what is right.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 00:56:38       [Reply]  [No Email]
You had posters deriding Moore's movies without seeing it. Isn't that ignorance?

Cindi    Posted 08-20-2003 at 03:50:54       [Reply]  [No Email]
Just for my two cents worth, I don't need to actually get bitten buy a rattlesnake to know that I should stay away from them. When I first saw/heard of Michael Moore, he was making documentaries about corporate America taking advantage of the little guy. Guess what, now he is famous, and he is a rich guy and he is saying what he thinks people want to hear to make more money.

Quite an about face if you ask me. I believe we are only seeing the beginnings of the lows Mr Moore will stoop to, not the least of which is capatalizing on a tragedy where children were killed.

I'm having a problem with the words "ignorant" and "ignorance" , maybe "short on facts" by not actually seeing the movie . One can form opinions of Mr. Moore by his previous actions and movies , the formed opinions can spill over into another area without creedance but to call someone "ignorant" in my opinion is unjustified..I personally think you & Mr. Moore have the right to voice "his" stated opinion just as anyone has the right to disagree with what was stated as long as there is no name calling.....Catch you later......Phlatt

The so called news was full of reviews and previews at the time so I think people have a pretty good idea as to what it was about without going to see it.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 01:12:49       [Reply]  [No Email]
You cannot discuss something with intelligence unless you see it! I think everyone on this board knows what Moby Dick was about, but unless one reads it, htere can be no discussion.

Perhaps youre right Bob Ive never seen Debbie does Dallas so I wont discuss it except to say that I doubt its an accurate description of romantic escapades in Dallas TX, Also bein an ignorant illiterate type I never read the book neither

Is that why you get to voice your opinions about guns?Your talking out of both sides of your mouth Bob.Make up your mind.We can't comment on a movie that we have not seen, but you can say all you have about guns that you have never owned.

BTW,Moore's work precedes him.I don't have to listen to a Jessie Jackson or Hillary Clinton speach to know their stance on a subject. The movie was slanted.Go watch"The Outlaw Josie Wales" and report back to the teacher.

Thank you Redneck! I was on the verge of making that point, glad you weren't so ignorant you couldn't think it up! Lol!

I believe you mentioned earlier that no one in your family has ever owned a firearm and you did alright. Have you ever handled or shot any firearm? When my grandparents and parents and I grew up hunting was part of living, it was done for food and it was done for protection of livestock. I will grant you it is not needful for me to hunt in order to survive. However I do enjoy eating wild game and fish. And I look at it as a skill and it is a skill that I have a desire to keep in shape. I think the latest blackout is an example as to why that may be important in the future. Imagine what it would be like if power and gasoline supplies were to be seriously interupted no refridgeration no driving to the store or fastfood place to eat. I do not think of myself as a doomsdayer but I do see the need to be prepared to adjust. In the city you have lots of kids who are proud of their ability to throw a ball through a hoop, I enjoy that as well, I also enjoy target practice to test my ability to hit a little bitty dot on a piece of paper. You mention ignorance often and I guess I am ignorant in some of the ways you seem to feel smart in but you seem to be ignorant in some ways as well so if we are going to keep any type of discussion going the name calling has to stop. As I heard an old preacher say "Every time I point a finger at someone I find four pointed back at me." Telling me I can not own a gun because I have no need for it is like telling someone who likes working on his own cars he cannot own any wrenches because the professional mechanic will fix it and it is not safe to do your own work. Goodnight.

Looks to me that you don't appreciate the views of others. I hope you are a better neighbor at home than you are here. Mike D.
