We were talking about the war in Iraq. I got some real opinions last night and wanted to get some more. What is your opinion on Iraq?

There was another blast there yesterday and more U.S. and English soldiers died. My question for Mr. Bush and his staff is: "How many American soldiers must die before we get the heck out of Iraq?" I know that most of you are pro-military; so, if you are pro-military, wouldn't you want our soldiers to be safe? What in the world are they fighting for? Don't tell me our freedom because you KNOW that is not true. There are no Weapons of Mass Destruction, there is no links to Al-Qaeda...

BTW, 8,000 Iraqi civilians have died and 20,000 Iraqi soldiers have died. For absolutely nothing! Discuss.

Bob, do you have anywhere near the quantity of the information/intelligence that is available to our military and Comander in Chief? It appears that you are basing your opinion (and life perhaps) on the information fed by the liberal left, anti-Bush, and anti-military people and press that do not have any more information other than what has been released, but continue to pass out their opinions and beliefs presented as facts. If you choose to believe that you know all the facts and will not support our government, our troops, and our President, then all I can say is.."I am sorry you feel that way, and there is no sense in discussing because your mind, or semblence there of, is made up and everyone else is wrong" Maybe when all else fails and communications have broken down to this type of trolling, we may add the ever popular "BITE ME"

It appears that Spin Meisters and Liberals
are blinded from seeing the Truth of what
We need to pray for our Troops, our President

You have seen the result. Colin Powell POINTED out particular surveillance phots of where the weapons compounds were in his speech. Now where are they?

People are dying my friend, Americans, British, and Iraqis.

Country Living, Country Skills, Country People...that's the title of this forum. Kim has warned you (she runs this sight and can shut it down, as she has before). Please take your argumentitive questions elswhere before this forum is ruined.

Now, if you have a question about farm animals, gardens, tractors, etc. please feel free to ask.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:41:20       [Reply]  [No Email]
So, country people have no opinions?? That is why I came here. I found this site and loved the fact that I could go to a forum where people's views were so homogenous. I could actually learn a lot more of what your deographic thinks about things than I could reading many different books where I wasn't sure if I could trust the sources. Here I get it from the horse's mouth. It is great! That is what the internet is all about!

Justin-PA    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:14:06       [Reply]  [No Email] just can't stop, can you?

Kim - Moderator Posted 08-20-2003 at 07:24:46 [Reply] [Send Email]
Let's stick to harmonious country topics. We will never agree on topics such as politics, gun control, religion, etc. Your arguing scares away new people and others who come here for some friendly Kountry Life discussions.
I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or take away your freedom of discussion. But this forum is meant to be a fun, informative and friendly place and those types of conversations lead to arguments 95% of the time.

The good news is that there are MANY discussion forums on the internet, and there are also MANY places on the intenet where a group of people can start their own forum (free). Let's try to maintain a down-home Kountry feel here.

Bob; That is your problem you read to many books and sit in to many coffie shops. You listen to to many Heros on TV! You also watch to many movies. Don't you relise they are all set up to make money? Say what they want to hear get them to come back for more and get rich off them in the end. Like the Soaps leave them hanging so they have to come back to be left hanging again. Take a walk on the wild side once and get a real taste of living then come back here with your comments about how to run things right. Till you have walked in the shoes of some of the people you talk about you have only hear/say comments, Junk you have heard on TV! I have seen war first hand like a lot of others on this site. I have smelt death don't tell me about war you have never been there and have only read about it in the papers. I hate war! But they will allway have them and I hope we allways win! Cause I never want to lose one and be there plunder. Mark H.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:00:59       [Reply]  [No Email]
How about if we don't get into wars in the first place. Take a look at Europe: they started all the ward due to their greed and they learned their lessons when millions of their young men died (and of course civilians too); they are not invovled in too many conflicts now. It seems that we have taken the lead on that front.

Yes, I do read many books and most films that I watch are documentaries; I don't watch too much television.

BTW, I thank God every day that I have not had to take place in a war. Only a very few wars can ever be justified to kill and murder. Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq certainly aren't justified.

Willy-N    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:09:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
See you read all around what I say to you. You will never understand. Who makes these Documentrys? They are made to get there point of view across. You have to live it to realy understand. Not just read the books. Like I said you do not understand the Human Race wars will never end and you have to be prepaired for that and I want the biggest guns because of that. That is why I live in the most powerfull country! Also why I fought to help keep it that way. PS Vietnam, don't go there you read to much about it again in the books. Mark H.

Ron,Ar    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:28:43       [Reply]  [No Email]
He is right Bob, about Vietnam, if you were not there, don't go there now.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 11:21:27       [Reply]  [No Email]
I feel sorry for everyone involved. It was the working class that suffered due to an arrogant government--much like today.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:20:03       [Reply]  [No Email]
What, I need to go into war to understand that people suffer, die, starve, get diseases, and so on? I thought Vietnam was the climax of American arrogance and stupidity. Maybe another country will epitomize that now.

Alberta Mike    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:31:24       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Haven't visited the Country Talk Forum for a while Bob but I did yesterday and was very surprised that you've turned it into another "Common Ground" Forum that Kim outlawed a few months ago. I appreciate your feelings on the Michael Moore movie and even your thoughts on the war in Iraq (as a matter of fact many of your feelings I share to some extent), however I think you are a taunting and annoying person who is just spoiling for a good fight. Do you act this way at work or in the community? If so, how and why does anyone tolerate such adolescent behavior. I think you're putting us on about the "coffee house" .... c'mon be honest Bob, it was the nut house right?

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:34:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
I admit that there might have been some people there with questionable mental states:) I was very pleased to find such a site about a week ago. The group on here holds some of the most homogenous views I have seen anywhere and so I wanted to pick there brains. That is the great thing about the internet: I can get opinions from people that I might never be in contact with and that is reciprocal.

Alberta Mike    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:38:00       [Reply]  [Send Email]
I think you missed it again Bob. Actually I wasn't referring to the other guys in the coffee house.

LOL! Maybe you have something there:)

That was a low blow I dished out there Bob but it sounds like you've taken it pretty good so you're probably like most of us here, just a little bit crazy. See ya, MIKE.

Yes, there is something to be said for a brutal regime that has gone by the wayside. However, it is unfortunate that there were other reasons basically concocted out of thin air to go in and change the regime.

How many times are we going to go do this though?

Tell that to the UN...    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:33:17       [Reply]  [No Email]
And Janes, and just about every other 'reliable' source out there that insist those weapons 'were' there...And were used against the Iranians and the Kurds...They all agree that Iraq 'had' the WMD...If you were a thinking person you would wonder where they are now, and stop making like they were never there in the first place...

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:37:19       [Reply]  [No Email]
Many different countries have chemical weapons. Not many have nuclear weapons. That is what we were seeking. By the way, who do you think gave those weapons to Saddam and Iraq to gas Kurds and Iran:) The answer is not too pleasant.

Once again...    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:44:24       [Reply]  [No Email]
I would love to chat with you...This is not the place, and you have been indoctrinated too far to have reasonable discourse with in any event...

As for who 'gave' them the weapons...You might want to look closely at our buddies The French...

The US has never been implicated in the sale of WMD's to Iraq, even when we were supplying them arms in their conflict with Iran...

You really need to spend some time at Janes Defence...

You have a couple decades of socio-political reading to catch up on...

Hope you enjoyed your coffie! I just did sitting right here. This has been the best laugh I have had in a long time reading your posts. I guess there realy are people like you out there. Can't beleive you lived this long with you way of thinking, you must be one lucky person. Never heard a person who knew so little of what they had to say something about. Even has a Hero named Moore?? Belives everthing he has to say while he scams people for there money with lies. You even steer around good responces to your post with another stupid comment or lie. Never did resond to the point I am alive today because I had a hand gun with me?? If you had your way I would have coward down and begged for them not to hurt me. Maybe looked aroud for a big stick or rock to protect myself with. You say you fired a gun once? That tells me you dodged the draft or never served in the Armed Forses to earn the right to say what you are saying. I wonder how you would feel being in one of those death camps? I wonder how you would feel seeing a Soldier coming to your rescue with a gun in his hands to set you free? Or maybe a non soldier killing the enimey when they were plundering a city and shooting kids and women? You have led a very protected life, never been in a war, did not fight for the rights of others so you will never understand. You will just keep beliveing people like that Moore guy for every thing he says cause you seen it on TV and never experiance it in real life. What a shame and you can spell good too! You can rest asure that you won't change many peoples way of thinking on this site. Pray that you never happen to be in a posision to need a gun you might just die saying boy I was wrong and pretty stupid in my way of thinking if you have the chance to even say that. There will allways be bad people in the world that will never go away. Guns will allways be around in the hands of criminals. They will allways let the wrong people out of jail to soon. I will allways have guns just incase they are needed to protect my family with or maybe my privet propety. Hope I never have to use one again (like befor) for any other reason then hunting or plinking. But if I do I sure will know how and be a good shot so I don't miss. Good luck Bob you need it! Mark H,

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:32:12       [Reply]  [No Email]
It is ironic because I feel the same way about the posters here: they have led a very sheltered life. Anyways, my family did fight for rights. My mother was invovled in getting women to vote after they received that right and other memebers in my family were involved in getting civil rights for African-Americans and other minorities. I was too young at the time.

You didn't answer my original post though.:)

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt. I want some discussion but this is all you can say??? Can you guys think for yourselves?

Willy-N    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:37:12       [Reply]  [No Email]
But Bob you sound just like Bagdad Bob! Standing there saying the US Troops are not winning or getting into the city while our Tanks are in the back ground roling in? You standing up for Moore is like Bagdad Bob lieing for Sadam. Just another sheep following his Hero. Mark H.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:38:56       [Reply]  [No Email]
Winning? What's winning a war? Maybe in WWII but not here. We wnet in with a lie and now are suffering for it. Why do American soldiers have to die and why do innocent civilians have to die? No, I want to get out and save the taxpayers money for more important things than this death trap.

Willy-N    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:03:36       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yes it shows you would not fight for your countrys freedom like I did. I can talk about war first hand, you can't! I have seen and tasted what they can't show on TV you haven't. Some day you may get a taste of it and maybe understand the human race. It is not all Roses and Fancy Coffie. Mark H. PS I like my Coffie, probley drink to much of it to afford paying 1.75 a cup for it.

Bob    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:09:30       [Reply]  [No Email]
What freedom is anyone fighting for in Iraq? In Vietnam? In WWII perhaps but not those. Please explain this! WHAT FREEDOM ARE WE FIGHTING FOR!!!!

Wiily-N    Posted 08-20-2003 at 10:12:38       [Reply]  [No Email]
We have the Freedom, what we are fighting for is not to lose it like those other countrys have allready. Can't you get that thru your mind? Mark H.

So you have no thoughts on the war on Iraq? Or on coffee?

Ron,Ar    Posted 08-20-2003 at 09:22:12       [Reply]  [No Email]
I like coffee, bring me some! And part, I said part of the Iraq thing is to bring the Saudis a little more in line with the west way of thinking. Much more goes on in Saudi than most think or know. Too much wealth not to. This world , your part too, runs on oil. Any stranglehold on us by foreign govts. on oil could cripple our economy which after Sept. 11 was in an already downward state. Until we stabilize fuel prices and supplies we are in a questionable situation for a world leader. It also sent a message to the terrorist community that we will go the hard mile. Afgahnistan and Iraq have proved our resolve. It also gives us a base of operations in that area. Bahrain is not big enough for our needs in that area and the Saudis have basically kicked us out. JMHO

Now we something of substance here. Yes, dependence on foreign oil is not good for the United States as it takes away leverage and options. However, killing people, innocent people, having our soldiers die, is not worth it.
