It is a shame they say nothing about those fires down here except the smoke is coming from Canada!! What is going on up there is a disaster. I just can't belive the USA is not at least reconising the problems happening and I only live 60 miles from them?? I do hope we are sending some fire fighters up your way cause you guys have sure helped us. If fact your bombers have dropped retardent on my property and around us 2 years ago. It was only a 17,000+ acer fire to. Not 850+ of them burninng. Mark H.

they only have about 24 fire fighters on that one right now they are hoping for more tomorrow, it is a distaster and the govt. has declared a state of emergency , but what you see in those pictures is whats happening all over the southern part of b.c. it bad in my area its bad north of those pictures its all over. they have about 3400 firefighters and some army troops but it,s not enough, when i was growing up they would back a van up to the bar doors and chase people out into them to fight fire , they could take you right off the street, now you have to have courses etc. i think thats good but in times like this i think they are going to have to change their ways , take people that are fit , put the trained people up front on the lines and put the less experienced doin the behind the line jobs thus freeing up more to do the fire fighting.

They need to train the Military in advace for these fires as part of there training. They have lots of equipment and personal. But then the privet fire fighters would complain because that is how they make a living along with a lot of others. It is very polictical up there and down here too. Mark H.

They do train the millitary down here for fire fighting. Cody was in Boise Idaho for a week of fire training earlier this summer. The sad thing is they have all these heavy duty fire fighting planes, built specifically for fire fighting, and they are just sitting here, idle.

I must have missed this news of a fire.

Where is this one, and how long and wide is
it?

the fires cowgirlj and i were talking about are in the southern half of british columbia canada, there are about 900 fires buring right now, the hardest hit areas are the okanagan(kelowna cowgirlsj old home town ) and the kootenays where i live.

Not sure yet it is out of our area. But it is either Chesaw or another town like that north of me. I will know more when I get home tomorrow or Saturday morning. It just started and they are droping water on it tonight. Mark H.
