At the end of one quarter, the Houston Texans leading the San Deigo Chargers 10-0.
Figure I would cheer while we are ahead.
Yehaaa go TEXANS!!!

Forth quarter, 5:36 on the clock....
Chargers 13
Texans 17

With 20 seconds on the clock the Chargers kicked a field goal to go ahead 19-17.

It was a really fun game, even if the Texans lost.

Thanks, ret!
There are TEXANS and there are people FROM Texas.
There is a difference.
Glad to know those FROM Texas left and went to Ca.
I wonder if they found those "better things"?
Listening to the Ca. news, I doubt it.
If it makes them happy,
it makes us TEXANS happy, too.

Thanks for sharing that good news with me, ret.
We have a slogan here "Dont Mess With Texas".
It is a slogan to encourage folks to keep our state clean and not litter our roads.
I think it applies to folks who dont want to be here, too.

PS: ret, I am taking all your negative responses to my posts as little frindly "digs" at me.
That is what they are, aren't they?
Surely you are not just being mean spirited and ugly to me.
I take them as little jokes;
I hope they are.
Have a blessed day where ever you are;
I know it is not in TEXAS.

no Lenore, just in fun. However, a native of Va might say you texans can own a gun because of us. It was one of our boys that got the clause "right to keep and bear arms" inserted in the bill of rights. But guess you know that. Or that the constitution was modeled very closely after the Va constitution.Of course being it is the first state to have a permanent colony, maybe they had a right to do this. And they might say that eight presidents came from here, along with many who shaped this country. Don't forget all the pu trucks running around, they use them here too, and are just as rusty as the ones in Tx. and first day of deer season the place gets deserted and noisy
with the sound of guns all over, and they can carry them here too. Of course, if one is from Ca, which is the most coveted place to visit from abroad, with its Golden Gate bridge which is world famous, Hollywood is still known as the film capitol, and for years of course Disneyland even the cowboys used to go there. Not to mention the hundreds of miles of beaches, some with water so clear looks like it is drinkable. Sports teams, which one do you want to talk about? the 9ers, team of the 80s, Raiders, whose sports gear outsold year after year any other? Not to mention the Giants or As. that is just the n. ca.teams. And travel through the golden state, look at Mt Shasta soaring majestically into the clouds, wet your feet in a mountain stream that probably has gold in it. Stand back from a giant Sequoia tree , there are many, and wonder how far up in the sky it is. At over forty feet in diameter, the General Sherman tree takes up a lot of space. One could go on and on, but you get the idea. Why I liked it was the WEATHER.No snow, very few days over 90 in the summer, lots of areas have little or no mosquitoes ,no wasps, and few flies. For many years, income levels were high with housing low. O yes, it was a republic once itself. The kicker here is that I am from Iowa, could go on there a bit, but won't. But glad you like where you are living, still kind of friends I hope

I appreciate that good ole Virginia boy for thinking of that!!

I admire confidence and pride in a person.
I think people should be proud of their heritage
and also of the accomplishments of their ancestors and forefathers.
I never get upset when someone shares their pride and history with me.
I like learning about those things.
I probably wont do much research on them,
but if someone cares enough to share it on line
I will enjoy reading it.
I will go away feeling I have learned something new.
It wont make me love TEXAS less though.

One of them Yankee generals said "if I owned half of h_ll and all of Texas I would live in h_ll and rent out Texas." I always just considered the source. Might have been General Sherman.

The one thing that I've noticed about Texans is that they are all like you. Real proud of their state. Spent a bit of time down there travelling and always had fun. Part of that fun was because of the people and the attitude they have about life in general. And the prettiest girls. But wow is that a long way across RT 10. Says me from CT!

Hey, Randy, thanks for the compliments!!
We are really proud of our state and we are some of the friendliest most outgoing folks you'll meet.
Hi there, Ron, you transplanted Texan,
yes there was a request that I give fair warning when I posted football drivel. ;-)
So you know, us Texans, we aim to please.
