Hi. I have to research peanuts for my 10th grade AP Language class and I am trying to get any information anyone might have on how peanut harvesting has changed since the 1930's. My project is due on Wednesday (8-27-03) so I would really appreciate anyone's input on the topic. In one of Jimmy Carter's books he metions "shaking peanuts" so any information on that I would appreciate too. Thanks so much :o) ~Allie

Peanuts grow underground. To harvest, you have to dig the plant up and shake the dirt loose so the peanuts will dry before they are threshed from the vines. Here are some pictures.
