Alarm Clocks for Gentle Awakening ?

(If I could stand to be up at the crack of dawn, I'd have a rooster. But me getting up that early
every day, I'd kill someone. SO, it's better for
me to sleep in long after rooster time! I am a
night owl, not a morning person.)

So, does anybody have an alarm you can awaken
to playing your own music, or sounds that you are happy with? [I can't stand waking up to these modern day beeping things on the digital alarms.]
Thinking about heading to electronics dept.
this week to look alarm clocks over.
(I am very sensitive to noise, so it has to be
pleasant sounding and something I can control the
volume on.)

Why not do like the deaf, get one that will cause a lamp to blink on and off or that has a vibrator attachment that you place under your pillow. My wife and daughter are both deaf so I know of these things.

Clock radio like some others mentioned. Mine is a GE model 7-4813B at wal-mart for $10. AC cord and battery backup.

when I was in college, the floor monitor would put the William Tell overture on his stereo and set it to go on at 7:00 am. The music is very soft and mellow for the first 8 minutes and then the last two minutes goes loudly into what we all know as the "Lone Ranger" theme. There were many a morning that that horse chase music finally stirred me out of bed. If nothing else that music generally gets you moving. There were a few other pieces of music that he would use, almost always something that started soft and slow and got very rousing (roudy) by the finish, like the 1812 Overture. I realize such music is not the same as Hank Sr. or Scruggs and Flat, but it has been around awhile and just might catch on.

whatrcha need is a late rooster - take some whole kernel corn, soak it in vodka, poke a horsehair (or similar piece of spiderwire) and poke it halfway thru the corn and let it airdry for a day.
if it doesn;t confuse the dam rooster, at least it's good for anchoring crowsw. nuthin flys with a cropful of long hair.:)

Drink 5 glasses of water before you go to bed - you won't need an alarm clock.

I saw a couple of interesting ones yesterday at WalMart. One had a variety of "Nature" sounds (surf, animal noises, water running; not sure I'd want to wake up to running water though).

They also had one that would play a CD instead of an alarm.

get a dog, take it out at the same time in the morning for a few weeks. Then ,when it wants to go out it will jump up on your bed and lick your face. Not give you a lot of static like a woman and you will be awakened very pleasantly

Get a clock radio. Those kind have a buzzer or you can set it to go off and play a radio station, and they have a volume control for how loud the radio is when it does come on. :) They are cheap, can get them at Walmart.

I have a clock radio, phone by my bed.
Every morning, I am awakened by my favorite Christian radio station
playing music at a sound level I set.
There is also one out now that is a CD player, clock radio,
that might suit you even better.
You can wake up to your favorite CD.
