Wife in her annual winter prep tizzy

I don't know why, but every year about the beginning of September, my wife goes into her tizzy about things to be done before winter. The "Honey-do" list grows to more than a page and keeps growing faster than I can keep up with it. We are supposed to have the nicest weekend in years, according to the weather man and most of the crap she has on the list is indoors stuff. For some reason she gets almost frantic about some of these things. She has already called me twice today about getting hay in the barn. She has been talking about ordering a semi load. We have more pasture than we've ever had, and with all the rain, the pastures are almost overgrown. We really shouldn't need as much hay as prior years and she wants to order 700 bales. We might have used 400 last year and we don't have as many animals now. I can probably get 700 in the barn, but why?
I've been after her to take a break and do some family fun thing for about 10 weeks, just can't get her to take the time. I suggested taking a day at the beach, 130 miles away. Nope, she says we don't have time.
I know this weekend's booked with other stuff. Do other wives do this?

Just keep...    Posted 09-05-2003 at 09:46:37       [Reply]  [No Email]

No wonder your name is SCREAMINGhollow! LOL! This sounds like a natural domestic instinct in your wife and she is really wanting you to assure her that you have everything under control and that ya'll will not be lacking for any of your needs come winter.

Do you have a semblance of control over anything in your life?

Yep. But they make some wonderful drugs now a days that really help (either for you or her).

But seriously, my wife has a touch of OCD and used to get this way really bad. Almost drove me crazy building a house recently. But she's much better now through the marvels of chemistry.

So don't feel like the Lone Ranger and keep smiling.
