Have you seen this article about Mom and Pop stores fighting back Wal-Mart? Walmart and its ilk are muscling small businesses aside. But mom and pop are mad as he-- and they're not going to take it anymore.

It's bad when a small business can't compete but then we should remember that Sam Walton was a small businessman 30 years ago. Walmart will go the way of K-mart in time unless the government steps in and ruins the system. I think you will find that your link is actually to a political rather than news site if you check it out.

We live about 100 miles from the nearest big city. They put a Wal-Mart Store in our little Town. Now I do not have to drive allmost 200 miles or use mail order to get a lot of things. I still shop at the small places like I allways have. Problem is on some stuff they charge so much that I can't aford to shop for everything at them. I feel for the small business that get hurt, but with out compitision they have been able to charge what ever they want or tell you you can drive 100 miles one way and get it cheaper. I have not got a raise in pay to cover the mark/up at the small places and Wal-Mart has allowed me to buy more things I need and save some for spending on my family instead of making a few shop owners who have been doing quite well off the backs of the little guys for a long time around here. Most of the Small Business owners around here have the nices homes and cars. There kids also drive the nices cars to school. The profet margin has been good to them. I am a small business owner and have to have my stuff shipped in to make my product. If I bought localy I would be forsed out of business real fast by having to raise my prices. My profet margin is low and would be used up just buying in our town what I need to make it. It is a two way street when you look at it the other way also. Mark H.

Probley will make a few mad but it is the truth. Wal-Mart also hired a lot of people who did not have jobs and brings a lot of people into our town from Canada to shop. They pay a lot of money into our towns tax system each year. Mark H.

If we can wait long enough, this practice of moving manufacturing to China will come full circle and bite Wal-Mart right in the you know where.
By moving those jobs out of the U.S., they are also reducing the expendable income of their very own customers!
You would think that Wal-Mart would be smart enough to see that they are cutting their own throats.

Wal-Mart could care less....when the profits start dropping they will simply close down, take the tax breaks, and call it a day.Mebbe Martha Stewart will be outta jail by then and open up a chain of stores to cater to these damn yuppies....

I'm surprised nobdy pointed out the "I could care less" you used or suggest the correct "I couldn't care less" Not trying to poke fun at you it's just that since someone pointed it out I notice it alot more.

Again nothing against you (my spelling is terrible by the way) keep posting clipper even here and on tales too.
