Shannon, if its in lines it's probably a contact dermatitis (such as poison ivy, oak or other antigen). Try 1% hydrocortisone. If that doesnt work have her see her doc for something stronger. Oatmeal baths work great too.

Scabies is a definite possibility.

Doubtful it is shingles, as they tend to be on one side of the body only, tend to show up on older folks, and HURT.

My arms look like that after a hard day of baling hay. Sounds like someone has been rolling in it.

I am not sure about it but there is something called shingles that are painful. Maybe some one here can help you more with this, best to seek real medical advice tho. This is usually a real helpful site with a FAMILY oriented following.

Shannon,

I'd like to take a look at that for you. Since I'm in Washington and you're in Florida could you E-mail pictures? It would be breast if you included photos of both yourself and your cousin. From the pics I will be able to determine if it will be necessary to make a trip to Florida, as some of these rashes are a real hands on, touchy feely type of thing.
Hope to Help..... :o )

Alex

ATW/WA I did not know you were FBI. Do you get many calls in your line of work?

Cindi    Posted 09-15-2003 at 18:51:50       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well, first things first. Alex appears to have a hidden agenda (grin)

Raised lines? I've never heard of a thing. I would wash the area in a baking soda soak and use a benadryl type cream. If she has any other symptoms such as fever or dizziness I would whisk her to the emergency room. Might not hurt to take some benadryl internally as well.

You gotta give Alex an A for effort. I thought he was pretty creative.
As far as the shingles goes, that would only affect one half of your body but it wouldn't be top or bottom, it would be left or right.

Good advice, Cindi. I've heard of a rash that was in what the doctor called "whelps" which were not exactly lines, but weren't round either. Never found out what caused it, but it was some kind of allergic reaction to something I came in contact with while playing in a field when I was a kid.
