Added to my post below, we pay $1600 for 2 cars in NJ, could you give me an idea of car insurance rates in VT and NH? Thanks. Daniel.

Don't have accidents and don't get tickets...

Both are basically due to excessive speed...

If you have a clean record and carry only liability, there is no reason for your premiums to be $4k/year...

Shop around...

Just got my policy the other day.
Full coverage on my 93 F-150; 75.50 for 3 months.
Liability on 92 Chrysler New Yorker; 35.00 for 3 months. 110.50x4= $442.00 a year
Needless to say, I'm happy with my premiums!

My Wife and I carry only liability as we buy our vehicles outright...

We pay $490 for 2 vehicles...

Wise choice. I'm almost to that point. When we traded the Acclaim for the New Yorker, we had to pay a LOT more for insurance. Next car is definitely going to be a smaller one. Hopefully a PT Cruiser but maybe a little 4WD, like a Suzuki or Geo or whatever. 4WD is real handy here in the mountings.

We just bought a 1993 Subaru Legacy Wagon for the Wife...Rebuilt title...Not a spec of rust...115k miles...Leather seats, electric everything , sunroof, air ride suspension, AWD, AC, CD Player and all...Paid less than $3500 with tax, Registration and title...Figure 5 years outta this one anyway...

I just looked up what we are paying. Through Farm Family Insurance (doubt if anyone can do much better than they do) we pay $597/year. This is for full coverage on a '97 Chrysler New Yorker and liability only on my '89 GMC pickup.
Roughly $1000 less than what you are paying.
