I've uttered more than one prayer for the folks in New York, The Pentagon and western Pennslyvania, but I worry about our long term resolve to solve this problem. We must be willing to take this to it's conclusion; I don't think we have any choice. We must be willing to accept a sharp tax increase or a return to heavy deficit spending. War's cost money. We must be willing to accept 3,4 or 5 dollar a gallon gasoline. The fighting is most likely to be in the middle east oil producing region. Since they are talking about a possible ground war in one of the most inhospitible regions in that part of the world against a battle hardened populace, are we willing to accept significant numbers of body bags with American servicemen? Despite the support of our allies we have now, are we willing to go it alone? These cowardly dogs are most likely to retaliate if we move against them, so we will probably face another terrorist attack.
In short, the United States is going to have to pay a price to ensure our safety. I'm in the Air Force Reserves and may be called up. I'm ready to make a sacrafice. I hope the country club/dot.com millionaire set in their $35,000 suv's and cement pond are willing to do the same.
