Last nite suzn yipped when she stepped on a critter crawling along on her side of the bed and it didn't look at all friendly. i'm partly laid up so it took awhile for me to get over there but sure enough there it was - by that time suzn'd already had me agreeing this was my fault, i'd consented to having the place condemned/exterminated (whichever service answers their phone first), getting some kinda omnivorous exotic bird, wearing armor in bed, and moving to another state. anyway, the thing was only about 2 inches long, kinda fuzzy-looking and slowly but definitely moving toward the nite stand. it's always reassuring when they move slower than my
tired brain, cuz it allows time to make her an equipment list to fetch while i sit here and study the problem. she finally chose to bring a washcloth, it was still between my feet so i carefully tossed the washcoth, pinched it into a sausage and we had whatever it was. having hobbled the thing outside while she bravely held the door and snapped the lite on, i gave it a deft swish into the fish-sink. out popped a used cotton ball (don't ask, it's hers) and a very confused looking lady beetle.

I have a similar story:

over the past week our area has been pretty crazy, 2 robberys and one dog attack (on our goats) so i have been pretty tuned in to anything wife heads out to our van to get something and im sitting inside with my oldest son and all of a sudden i hear screams, so i BOLT up and grab something of use to cause pain to something..and i throw the door open and she is standing there kinda sheepish and spouts out "there was a spider that was this big!!" i sigh and throw the door heart was pounding for a good 2 minutes after that....

Beetles, especially June bugs can feel as big as dinosaurs when they end up under a bare foot or smack into you flying about thirty miles an hour. I hate 'em. Those prickly little feet and uuggghhh...oh, I hate 'em.
