An orchard where I live gives its apple peels and cores to a guy who then feeds it to his cattle. I always heard that the seeds are deadly, so is this safe? Is there a better use for cores?

Apple juice.    Posted 10-20-2003 at 11:17:44       [Reply]  [Send Email]
When processing applesause, peels and cores were pressed through rice husk for filtration.

My Dad would get a dump truck laod each shift from a local processor, for pig feed.

Made for some really sweet pork.

Have you ever stood behind a cow that had been eating apples? Not a pretty sight.

Apple seeds have cyanide in them. I doubt if the seeds get digested enough to cause any problems. Cattle have been eating whole apples for millennia.
