Postal Rate Increase

Hands up, everybody who knew the postal rates went up July 1. (I hope I'm not the only shmuck standing here like that). The one ounce letter rate is the same, 34 cents, BUT almost everything else was raised by 3 to 10 cents. For each additional ounce to a letter or small first class parcel, cost went from 21 cents to 23 cents. Priority mail (first class weighing over a pound) went up for weights over 2 pounds. Bound printed matter and media mail (books, videos, etc) went up. Express mail went up. Now I get three daily papers and consider myself a newshound, but I can't believe this slipped by; I honestly don't recall seeing a press release in the paper or any special notice in the post office itself. When I looked, the P.O. had changed the rate charts on the wall, but nothing was done to call your attention to it. I mail a lot of 2- and 3-ounce letters and small parcels, and I wonder how many since July have arrived postage due at my family, friends, and clients; nobody has mentioned anything to me, but I am afraid they think I am a cheap bastid...which I admit I am, but not so much that I'd deliberately send postage-due mail!

Naw I never knew it either OC thanks for the info.

I been sending my mail with the 34 cent models and nobody has said anything.

I mailed my nephew a book here while back and when the post master weighed it the dang thing cost over $5 for one book. I thought that was a little rich but I did'nt know I was getting screwed without a kiss.
