ball, know when it's the spin cycle?

I was kind of thinking along the same lines as Dave. That maybe it was the change in temp, I also thought maybe the spin on the first rinse cycle might be a little more aggressive or something. Just one of those things I was wondering about. Barf ball. Lol!

I was hoping JoeK had the answere.My idea is that there is a thermal spring in the ball that will cause it to open after the hot/warm wash cycle when it gets to the cold rinse cycle,like a car's thermostat.
