WE all know who she is, and the he$$ she has and probably is going through. However, as you also know, this was the most overblown story of a soldier who happened to get hurt and captured and was all thought up by the media. Sure made the news though, pretty all american blondeheaded girl fighting off the emeny till she ran out of bullets. In case some of you missed it, she was wounded when the vehicle she was in overturned, and that put her out of commision for good. Point of story, a couple of nights ago, they had a piece on the Iraqi man who walked a long ways in hostile territory to notify us of her plight. He is now in US permanently. Last night on the news it showed him at the Lynch house, he has wanted to meet her. According to the news report, her Lawyer said she had previous committments and couldn't take the time to see him, but was looking forward to meeting him in the future.
Boy, that really stinks. If I would have been her I sure wouldn't let anything come in the way of seeing him. Her aZZ would still be over there rotting in the sun if it wasn't for him. Strange that not many news programs picked up on this. Then again , can't tarnish our heroic little blonde soldier. By the way, seems like not too many cared for the black girl that was wounded and was captive for twice as long. Course, she is not pretty

And the staff at the hospital tried the whole time they had her to return her to the US Army, who ignored them. Then when the soldiers went to get her, the camera crew went in first to make sure they got all the drama of this big hostage rescue, and the whole time, the doctors and nurses were trying to help the soldiers, who were under orders to make it look violent so they pushed the staff around at gunpoint.

Bless her heart.
That poor little girl has lost control of her life.
Do you really think she made that decission, if it was actually as reported?
Poor little Jessica looks like $,$$$,$$$.$$ to many people and they want their share of her.
I cannot imagine how overwhelming that must be to her and her family.
Simple, country folks, who are patriotic and did not choose for the route Jessica's life and theirs has taken.
Maybe some day the $$$$ sharks will lose interest in her and let her recover and live as normally as possible.
One can hope anyway.

Being from the hillbilly state myself, I don't recall her asking for all the attention or wanting to be a hero. She is not going out doing a ton of talk shows or trying to get whealthy from it. She a shy little hillbilly girl that just wants to be lift alone. It doesn't matter how she got injured, she was still fighting for our country.

Maybe you haven't heard the rest of the details of that man and why he is here in this country. Turns out HE is also writing a book for which he no doubt will be paid a tidy sum of money. Nothing wrong with that. More power to him.
But why is everybody so quick to find fault with her and paint her up with tar before you find out the whole story? For crying out loud, give the girl, and the country, a break.

Amazing what gets hero status. Some soldiers for valor, some for exceptional bravery, some for getting back alive. She's no Alvin York, but she a darn sight more hero than most sports personalities. Even Winston, escaped and gave the Boers he)) while he made his way back to freedom.
By the way, which vehicle was going in reverse so fast that it hit another in the convoy and rolled over? Who was driving?
I feel sorry for the willie and joe's storehoused for years in the VA hospitals because they ended up too shell shocked to maintain a normal life. Tortured and terrorized by combat in WW2 and largely forgotten. Nov. 11th means so little when I think of how their lives have been spent.

Has anybody heard anything about the rest of her company that was captured? I can assume that they have been recovered.

They are dead...    Posted 10-28-2003 at 14:22:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
The other 8 that wer captured with her in the same incident are all dead...

You (and most everyone else) are confusing a different group of people that were captured about the same time...They were all put on TV by their captors before the fate of Jessica was known...

Scroll down the page that I am linking to see the pictures and names of the 8 Brave Souls that they found buried near the hospital where they found Jessica...

Had time to research this morning. There were 8 POWs taken alive in addition to Jessica. The 8 were found alive in Tikrit along with 2 helicopter pilots on April 13. There were 9 bodies found at the hospital that Jessica was taken from, 8 from here unit and 1 from the 3rd ID.

I stand corrected...    Posted 10-29-2003 at 08:28:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
I apologize for not digging further...

All the soldiers there are heroes to some extent, some more than others. That she is any more a hero than the Native American woman killed there, is a mystery. I'm glad she was rescued. But the guy who walked so far and risked so much for her rescue is much more a hero than her.

i agree with you . not only was she hurt in a vehicle accident but they were lost and going the wrong way . we will never get the real story . she claims she dont remember any of it ??? don't get me wrong i wouldn't have wanted to have been in her shoes .the media and the army fabricated stories is what i am detest .

That's good Media Hype for you! Lot's of Soldiers who lost a lot more then she did and never got the reconition for what happen to them! They won't get paid for there story either do to it dose not sell good to the Media and they also do not have Lawyers getting bids for there story that 1/2 of it was made up to get the public going. Yes it touched a part of me being a Vet! Mark H.
