Ayuh. I figured we'd see some good stories. ~Lenore and Ludwig-honesty and integrity are always cool. Linda, you are absolutely correct, what goes around comes around. I always attribute any good thing happening to me as payment for kindness I exhibited to others.
Guess that's how country folks are. It's refreshing after all the garbage you hear about day in and day out, to find out that there really are nice folks out there.

I think there are really more nice folks than otherwise. I worry about some of the kids I see, the teenagers, but on the whole I think there are a lot of people out there who would help when given a chance and I think it is extremely improtant to extend this courtesy to teenagers.

I had a boy about seventeen break down in front of my house back when we lived in the city. His hair was sticking straight up with some kind of mousse and was three different colors. He had a half dozen face peircings, and was wearing leather and tattered t shirt and so on. He was scary looking. Turns out he was out of gas. He looked like he thought he was screwed beyond beleif, stuck in the middle of little wholesome America USA on foot.

I got the gas can from the garage and was able to give him three gallons.

"I don't have any money. I can't pay for that."

He was resistant, almost surly. I said.....

"Honey, I want to give you this gas. If I sold it to you, then I would be selling the good feeling I get for helping you out, and that feeling is not for sale. Just pass the favor along someday when you get the chance."

He just grinned then and thanked me and off he went. Too many kids are growing up looking out for number one. I help anybody any chance I get, and it's a bonus when my kids are with me and get to see the this.
