my brakes on my van are squeaking....its not the god awful grinding sound of brakes that have gone bad, just an annoying squeaking sound when you stop. i had the brakes and rotors on the front done about 3 months ago, so i assumed that maybe my back brakes were going bad. i bought new brake pads for the back, but when i got to the old ones, they were fine. plenty of pad left. infact, almost as much as was on the new ones. any suggestions??? please email me at dvalentine39@comcast.net

Eliminating squeal in brakes can oftime be a frustrating ordeal. Many times the squeal shows up after new pads and/or rotor surfaces. I have a friend who has turned wrenches for 40 years who will not install linings or pads other than OEM due to aftermarket products problematic squealing. There are products available to place on the mounting points of the pads that may help eliminate the squeal by stopping the vibration that causes squeal. Products available at autoparts stores.

Had fairly good luck at times by just removing glaze from linings, however heard a fix the other day which was new to me.Supposedly washing the lining with vinegar has been used with good success.....worth a try, good luck
