What is the one thing that the average person dreads the most? I think you'll find it's getting up in front of people to speak (especially) or otherwise perform. It doesn't come natural to most people. That's why it's so important to learn how to do it, the sooner the better.
I know it didn't come natural to me but my father was always one to push us kids to do things like that. Now it really doesn't bother me much at all in most circumstances. As a performer, you better get used to it or go find some other pursuit.

This is one of the reasons this topic came up from me tonight. Jenny asked me what panic attacks are. My heart just stopped. Then she told me she had one because she had to get up in front of class and speak. I assured her that was normal and that with more practice she would be fine. I never talk about my anxiety in front of the kids. They are far too suggestible.
