Pasturize milk with a vitamix?
[Return to Topics]

Anybody ever used a vitamix to pasturize milk? the thing is supposed to boil 1/2 gal liquid in 6 minutes. I can't stand the noise for six minutes when you can boil something soundlessly on the stove. But I would think the machine would homoginize and pasturze all at once in a relatively short time. Anyone ever try or have any ideas?

Why on earth would you want to pasturize, or homonogize your milk?

I certainly wouldn't. Us 5 kids and all my ancestors grew up on raw milk. Mom said the doctor usta turn the color of milk when she told him she was feeding us all raw milk. My youngest brother just turned 50 and we're all goin strong yet.
We usta pick cider apples up in the back pasture. Some of them apples might be restin right on a fresh cow flap. They went right in the bag with all the rest. Didn't pasturize the cider neither.

They probly had a special about milk on PBS.

About every 2-3 years they run a show on our local PBS that gives a warning just about as severe for drinking fresh milk as they have for smoking.

I don't know a vitamix but it won't homogenize and pastirize at the same time in a double boiler.

We used to put the milk in a double boiler and take it up to 160 degrees. When it hit 160 pour the milk into a cool pan and put it in the freezer to quick chill it. Just to quick cool and not long enough to freeze the milk.

If that's about what you're talking about no it won't be homogenized.
