Around here there are still quite a few old cookstoves (wood and kerosene) for sale at farm auctions. Seems many older folks on small farms still use them, but the kids and grandkids have no interest and so they're sold at auction. Seen some beauties go for as little as $100-300.

You can buy new cookstoves from Lehman's. They're still manufactured by several companies, as the Amish and some Mennonites still use them as do a few other folks who live "off the grid."

I have an old "New Perfection" kerosene cookstove that I picked up for $12. Has 3 burners and cooks as hot and clean as a modern gas stove. We intend to use it next year for canning as it is a little quicker than our electric and we can put it out on the porch so the house doesn't get so hot.

good luck!

Hi Jessica, are you referring to a wood cookstove?
