We now live in Eastern upstate NY in a rural mountain area.It is cold (-25 -30)with plenty of snow.We have a 16 year old son with CP who is confined for the most part to a wheelchair. In two years he will be off to college. He has said he would rather consider somewhere that winter would be a little more friendly. We would then like to be within a few hours of where he might end up.We are not flat-landers and were thinking of either South western Va. or North eastern Tn. I would like any ideas as to which might be a little warmer, less snow etc. And of course for me the best trout fishing. Also our local taxes are projected to go up 53% this year and about the same next. Not hard to figure we have to move. thanks for any help dave

Dave,
Im wondering were in eastern upstate NY you are located? I have a place in East Wells, Vt which is 10 miles east of Granville,Ny. Anyway, the reason I posted is that a friend of mine is a Nascar nut. Last year he took me down to Bristol, Tennessee for the race. I was amazed at how similar it looked, like I was in Vermont without the cold weather. Id still rather be in Vt but for someone that was looking for a more forgiving winter it might be the place to go.
