Anyone know of a good step by step book on how to make simple picture frames out of wood?

How fancy? Do you have a decent miter box? Cut two
sides at a time if you can. Use polyurethane wood glue and 1 inch brads to pin them together.

There are some cheap picture frame clamps out there. That makes gluing easier. No needed though.

Do you have a table saw? Good to cut a recess on the back of the frame pieces. Then fasten your backer, or cardboard, mat and the like.

Can't help you on the book. But if you do make some. Try making some out of old barn siding. I bought some of them from an Amish man and man are they nice.
