Spoonbill/merganser recipe

Outdoor Life Recipe:
clean and pluck merganser, coot or spoonbill
place in a dutch oven:
3 large onions, chopped
2 chopped and peeled carrots
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 beef chorizo, fried and cut into 1 inch pieces
4 russets, 1 inch chunks
5 cups chicken stock
2 turnips, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
Salt and pepper to taste

Cook in the oven at 250 for 4 hours
remove from oven, throw the bird away, and eat the rest.

I used to go to all the trouble of plucking...But when it is just a couple small birds I have taken to breasing them out...

I did get a Black this AM that I am going to pluck and roast fro supper...

Thanks for the recipe...I did file it for later...
