here's a schematic of that $3000 wood splitter. heckuvan idea but they keep shearing gear strips, users can't get parts and the company keeps changing hands :)

Thanks Deadcarp . I wasn't thinking down that line . I was trying to picture and crank type something . I have worked on presses that have a fly wheel and when you energize a clutch the crank shaft would make one turn and make a fender or what ever . I can see why this set up is hard on the rack and pinion teeth . It sounds a little dangerous to me . alot can happen in two sec. ,one cycle . I think I'll stick to my hyd one that goes on the three point .
