I was listening to a similar discussion on the radio.
However distasteful, short of putting a bullet in their
heads, they have to live somewhere, next to somebody.
Do you have any suggestions? Other than the bullet
approach of course?

How about castration? Also maybe a brand on the forehead!! No the bullet approach sounds best and RIGHT!

Ya know...    Posted 12-15-2003 at 18:23:34       [Reply]  [No Email]
I am right with ya there through the 'castration' idea...

Right up till I remembered that not all 'offenders' are male...Now what...

Is your world always a shade of gray? Are there ever times when an issue is black and white? This veering off the path because people don't want to make hard choices is what has gotten this ocuntry into the trouble it's in today. So when someone with the guts to make hard choices comes along, the liberals just can't deal with it because they've lived in their gray worlds too long.

No my world is not shades of gray. Actually my friends
would laugh at the accusation as I tend to be all or
nothing most of the time. My observation is that there is
a distance between what we would like to happen and
getting it done. It's the classic "who will bell the cat"

Pitbulls are often used unscrupulously by people. What
would we like to have - we would like to have pitbulls
banned so the unscrupulous won't have use of them.
The reality is that these unscrupulous people will find
other dogs to provide the same risk.

eg.Criminals use guns. If only we could prevent
criminals from getting guns. So how about banning
guns all together. Sounds promising. Except of course,
criminals, who have no respect for the law, do not get
their guns legally so banning has no effect on them.

current example:
$ex predators are the bane of our existence. If only they
could be gotten rid of permanently. If only they could
be easily detected life would be much easier and we
would feel our children are safer. The reality is that the
do not go to jail for life. They are released back into
society. So where do we put them. We can't NIMBY
this, they will be in someone's back yard Whose
backyard do you choose. Not yours but 'theirs' down the
road, in the other neighborhood. So after we get mad
and frustrated, then what? The problem still remains -
what do we do with them? They don't disappear into the

That's all I'm trying to say. I'm a pragmatist.

"Do you have any suggestions? Other than the bullet
approach of course?"

Hanging comes to mind...

Poking their eys out with sharp sticks?

How about keep them in jail?

Why do they HAVE to be out?...Because they 'paid their debt to society'?...And who said they HAVE to 'live' at all...

What about my Civil Liberties being infringed by being forced to worry whether convicted criminals are living next to my children?

Just a thought...

That and I am in a pukey mood...

Well that would be nice if they stayed in prison forever,
but that doesn't seem to be in the books. Besides, what
degree of $ex offender would get life without parole. As
far as I understand there are varying degrees of $ex
offender categorization? So like a peeping tom would
be on one end and a child rapist would be on the other.
So is there any proof one way or the other that peeping
toms escalate their behaviour or do they just remain
peeping toms? I ask because say we lock up
pedophiles for life (which would suit me fine) should we
expect that the peeping toms of today become the
rapists of tomorrow? In that case we need to lock up
peeping toms too?

I dunno. There seems to be a disconnect between
what we want and what we can have. Apparently the
rate of relapse among $ex offenders is very high. The
whole darned thing is disturbing as heck but there
doesn't seem to be a ready solution.

how about prison , at least there they out of circulattion and are not a danger to our most preciuos resource-children. Oh I forgot Teddy Kennedy (remember the bridge)lives in a gated community he just wants to make sure they live next to us. What a leader
