You know that ad where all the kids get together and wash cars and mow lawns to buy jackets for the poor kids? well that struck me wrong and i finally figured out why: why, for example, are we teaching (arguably well-to-do) kids to bust their butts for somebody else? so they like factory jobs? for bragging rights? so they can pat each others' backs? if we really want them to do some good, why not have the same kids go grab a poor kid and help him wash cars and mow lawns? that way at least the poor kid learns something too, besides jackets are free.
seems to me - once again, we're giving them fish instead of teaching them how to. but according to the season's charity shortfalls, adults are learning. now if the charity CEOs can :)
