For Cowboy Joe and other Yankee fans, they didn't make it but certainly gave a good accounting of themselves I must say. You know, the Yankees are one of few teams who have the ability to keep the team together after winning championships, namely because they have the money to do so. These days, championship teams start dismantling themselves almost as soon as the last out in the last game. Players eventually leave for greener pastures, look at Florida from a few years ago. I'd be surprised if Arizona can keep that group of players together over the next few years.

May be a one year wonder, but they are the current world series champs for the rest of the current year. What the yankees did is in the past, meaning over and forgotten. Many say that, it should have been over in five games, others say that the A's had it won and the yankees were outmatched and playing over their heads. For the 1st time in four years the best team won. Clemen's was washed up last year and was babied along this year, he won't win much over 10 games next year and he'll be replaced the following year. Yankees may go down in history for their lucky play that led them to three world series titles, but now they will go down in the standings to the bottom where they will be for years to come.

I agree with you; watch for the "Marlinization" of the Diamondbacks to begin after the first of the year.

Alberta Mike - Excellent post. I agree with everything you said. Those of us here in NYC are sad the Yanks lost. However, Arizona, unlike the Yankees, may just be a one year wonder.
