The Rose Parade/Black White TV

Since I can remember, the rose parade has been a new year's tradition in my home. My mom would get in the kitchen early in the morning to prepare the dinner for family and friends.
The tv -b/w, of course- would be on for the presentation of the beautiful parade, so in-between stirring whatever was simmering on the stove, checking the oven, and making sure we had everything ready, we would oooohhh and aaahhh at the spirited marching bands and the magnificent floral floats been shown at the parade.
I believe it was in 1970 when our neighbor came over one morning to invite my mom and kids to go to her house for a minute and check at the parade in the color tv they had just bought; we dropped everything we were doing in the kitchen and ran over with her.
Nothing in the world would have prepared us for the impression of actually being able to appreciate the mix and match of the different rose's tones of the red , or the cheerful colored band's uniforms.
Years later we would still talk about that day at the neighbors house and have a wonderful time going back down memory lane.

My mom got her first color tv 3 years later.

Take Care
