Got the School Bus started early since it is -8 below zero and 22 mph winds with -28 below zero wind chill outside right now. I hope the parents start there cars early or the kids won't be wearing shorts this morning. Tney will be complaining it's cold in the bus all the way to the next stop! 3rd day of high winds and neg deg temps. OK I will take some of that 70 deg weather now! Mark H.

Sorry Willy, I am all out of 70 degrees now. Its 1 am here and 37 degrees, and wet :(

might think about setting a portable propane heater in there to knock the chill off - those things leave good breathing air and boy they'll thaw out a big fish-house! a 20-lb tank lasts about 100 hours with the ceramic element full-bore.

Thought about that. I have a Propane Double Head Mister Heater for my shop when needed but sometimes it just stops when it get real cold? Mark H.

cool here, minus 13 now but its suppose to warm up to a balmy +4 today. And I have to go to town and fix step daughter's car. Why don't cars break down in a garage.

Atound here I see them parked along the side of the road over heated! Guess they did not check the anti-freeze this winter. Murpys Law prevents them from breaking down in the drive way. Mark H.

Our 70 degree temps are gone, now,LOL. It's 20 something this morning, but not in the negs, and not windy.

Aahhhh, the bliss of winter and the "minuses"! 'Tis a grand thing, to be sure... went out yesterday and started the old W Fourklift, after being plugged in for an hour.. had ta let it run fer about fifteen minutes ta let the hydraulic oil warm up.....cows, contented, chewing their respective cudds, looked at me, as much to say...."feeding time, again? already?" almost had to use MY block heater....that wind did have a fair bite to it! Will have to see if my activities today will include fireing up the Huskvarna and attacking the wood pile....the "war injury" permitting.... have a gooder, R.E.L.

Every time I start the tractor the Cows think I am bringing a new bale of hay to put in the feeder and they start Mooing even if they just got fed. Mark H.

hey is that "ya have to be tough" comment written down anywhere? a resolution or something? i'm tempted to think it's one of those "learn at 7, repeat til ya freeze to death" rumors ;)

toolman    Posted 01-05-2004 at 08:12:28       [Reply]  [No Email]
ya either gotta be tough or stupid is the comment i hear most haha , im the follow second one,we just bought these vehicles this past summer, i was kinda worried about the anti-freeze in the car as i didn,t know what part of the country it had come from, figured the truck would be ok as it was sold out west here, if i can get the hood up i can fix it , got a hearter i,ll stick onto the oil pan, used to have a tiger tourch,(big propane tourch)good thing i didn,t have that last night or id be butting in an insurance claim this moring.

Republic about 40 miles from us is -29F below and all the school buses would not start in town this morning, they had to jump start them. Onother town is starting 2 hours late due to the buses. I think it is funny because I got mine going yesterday knowing it would not start the first day after 2 weeks not being run. I had to drive thru a 14 inch snow drift with out chains this morning the kids loved it! Glad some of this is going back east for a while they need some winter weather so they can not feel left out. Mark H.

i was looking at that weather site last night that you posted , cour de lane was down to about 23 below and that was early , never thought it got that cold there suprised me, we,re about the coldest anywhere around now , gets pretty cold down in this little valley sometimes, but hasn,t been this cold for some years, i hear that they are calling for snow west of here so it must be starting , the warm up will come but so will the snow and lots of it i,ll bet, we have one more day/night of this anyway.

Wind is slowing down to around 20 mph so that is helping still -5F right now outside. Mark H.
