With Ian working nights and sleeping days, its really best to get on out of the house anyway. I left early to go get Shelby from school. The grounds are fairly large, so Tip and I like to walk around out there. I told myself every day Shelby was in school I would get us out there to walk for a while. It was beautiful today, the wind was brisk, but the sun was warm. Tip really loved getting out and treking about. Cold weather really gets her motor running!

Now, she doesn't really get to see other creatures that much, except dogs and cats. Today she got to get nose to nose with a young horse across the street from the school. She normally likes to see the goats on the land next to the school, but we haven't seen them lately, don't know what happened to them. So, we crossed the road and began to walk along the fence. The young one came right up, the older one hung back a little. Now I know al ot of you are used to being around horses, but I am not, and every chance I get, I treasure. So, I held Tip up on her harness to keep her close and under control. She was very curious about this new animal! I guess the horse being young was more daring than the other. He came right up to the fence and they practically touched noses. Then I held out my hand and he put his forehead to my hand...I just about cried where I stood.

You know why us country folk love animals so much? Because it gets us closer to nature. My dog and that horse today made my heart soar. Those animals know nature like we only wish we knew nature, so I envy them. The things they experience and see and know that we don't.

As we walked away, that young horse had a look about him, like, come back, I want to have some company! I think he wanted to come on out and play, he seemed so sweet. I can tell you this, Tip respected his size. She was still excited to see a new animal though :)

horse ay? you want to befriend it - take a carrot along on your walk. glad you & tip have a new friend. :)

we have 2 miniature horses down the road, and they both have little ones so you know anytime grandson buck goes that way, we hafta stop and talk to them awhile. and they get a carrot piece then. all 4 have their shaggy winter coats now and seem real content. those colts were born about the size of a house cat. :)

I just wish I had known about this Iams thing sooner. I also knew there were better foods out there, and wish I had gone ahead and made her stay on them. When we first got her, she didn't like all the foods that were good. Guess we all are guilty of that, everybody loves junk food sometimes. Guess I should have been a better mom and made her eat what was right. I used to buy her the Natural Choice. She will eat the canned now, but wouldn't then. Didn't like the dry either. Oh, and yes! I did love to watch them! :)
