You can tell that it's cold out, this forum has been on the move today. This cold weather isn't agreeing with me this year, now I think that I'm starting to find out what my Dad was meaning when he talked about how the cold bothered him more the older that he got.
Everybody must be inside more today, I know that's what I'm doin'!!!

Hey, I am with y'all. I have noticed the board is spreading like wildfire these past few days. Nothing like a good cup of coffee or apple cider or hot chocolate and good company :) My knees hurt when its cold. I used to get hot real easy, but these past few years, I get cold easy, and have a hard time warming up. I used to like winter, but now I am looking for spring.

I should be working. It is not cold so much as it is cloudy and dreary outside.
So I have procrastinated the day away.
Tomorrow is supposed to be cool and partly sunny.
Maybe I can nudge myself back into a work mode.
The middle of the week holidays and the cold and rain sort of knocked the props out from under me.

Just got back in. Had to take the smoke pole for a walk. It was just itching to make some noise but couldn't find anything for it to bark at.

I just spent several hours plowing out my place and knocking down the sides to have more room for the next snow fall. Then plowed out my neibors 1/4 mile drive way again. Time for lunch and a break. Mark H.

I opted not to work today. After working six days a week for over two months before Christmas, I'm now enjoying some leisure time. Only work I've done is haul a bunch of stuff out of my "junk room" upstairs for Cliff to haul to the ditch.... clothes nobody wears any more, games the grandkids lost half the pieces to, and some old LP 33 1/3 records... lots more of those to throw away when I get back to that corner.

Spence    Posted 01-08-2004 at 13:45:04       [Reply]  [No Email]
.... and of course those 33's aren't Hank Williams,George Jones,Waylon Jennings are they?

If I member right, they hated cold!!!!

Look up those 33 1/3's on eBay before you trash em...Even your old 'Partridge Family' albums might be worth money...

That David Cassidy is just soooo dreamy LMAO

Those old records don't seem to bring much. I do have an autoharp I'm going to sell on Ebay... as soon as Cliff's tractors are sold there. I don't like to have too many irons in the fire at once.

I hear ya...    Posted 01-08-2004 at 12:52:03       [Reply]  [No Email]
We were selling LP's at the local flea for $1 a piece...But you had to have the right ones...Not much call for Slim Whitman Sings Chinese Opera...

Me too...

I remember when -5 at 2 in the afternoon was fun...Now it is a PITA...and other places...

I did go split enough wood for a couple days, and started the tractor...Unfortunately I need 2 more days below zero to freeze the ground so I can snake logs...Darn near did not get the tractor back up out from behind/below the shed yesterday...Had all of 1 inch of frost on top of about 15 inches of mud...Weird year so far...And it is ony the 2nd week ;-)

Fortunately, I got about 3 chords already cut, split, and stacked. First year in many that I've actually been ready. I will need more though, would have already got more, but like you said, "15 inches of mud"!! I've been waiting on a freeze, otherwise, I'd end up cuttin' wood out of the front yard!

I have about a cord left in the yard...Good dry Ash...I have lots standing dead that was girdled last spring...New leaves suck the wet right out of a tree...And then I do have about a cord of 3 month cut maple within lugging distance of the house...Takes a bit longer, but warms you up doing it ;-)...Stand it next to the stove overnight and it is plenty dry to burn...We will not freeze, but I do have to get down in and get my sugar wood out, or I will not be doing any sappin this year...
