He did wrong, then lied about it, and now thinks everything should be forgotten. I don't think so.He $hitt in his nest, now let him live with it. lying was just as bad as the betting in my book. good bye Pete Rose

what he did was normal in sports how many firemen bet a geg of beer on a softball game BUT to lie for a century about it is not so normal
to expect to be forgiven is not nice(i tried all the other words)that is almost as bad as a govenor doing something wrong then lying then asking forgivness

I was in the Marines with a guy that grew up with him. He was the same kind of person then as he is now. The one you just described.

I guess Pete feels if the President (Clinton) did what he did...lied under oath... and still was "loved";
it might be a good time for him to try it.
If the mayor up there in DC could get caught doing drugs on tape, get re elected things seem pretty good for Pete.
So what could he lose for giving it a shot?

I used to be into baseball history. I read quite a few books. One of them was "Eight Men Out" about the 1919 White Sox (Black Sox). I think their was a movie made from the book. Not sure how much it followed the book.
But if poor old Shoeless Joe Jackson has never been redeemed, Pete Rose better not plan on it either.
Yes, he was a great ball player. But he was a hustler then and he's still hustling us today. Maybe Bill Clinton learned from Pete and then took it to a new level, I don't know.
I wouldn't buy his book on a bet.
