Anyone here plant or know anythang about lespedeza? Think I'm gonna plant about 12 acres this coming Feb. Someone told me to plant oats with this and cut the oats for hay in the spring so as the weeds won't choke out the lespedeza. I'll be using the lespedeza for hay. Thanks!!!!!! I'm in NC. the hay is for my goats

Hi Hunter,
We used to plant Lespedeza for out cattle some years ago. There are other crops less difficult to raise here in Alabama and maybe in NC too. Depending on how valuable your goats are and how much you can spend on growing the feed, etc., you may want to check out crops that are most suitable for your area. Here we have a Co-op Extention Service (agricultural) that provides a wealth of info on many farming matters. You can find out just about anything needed. Try to pull up NC Co-operative Extention Service and see if you have one. Sorry I didn't try it first for you.
Good luck.

My uncle used to plant that when I was a kid. I think he used it for grazing, but I don't know much about it. It's difficult to ask him, now, given his present state of deadness.
